Over the past 10 years, I’ve had the opportunity to travel more than I ever imagined possible. I always wanted to see as much of the world as I could, especially since it just wasn’t a possibility for me for so long.
Once I started traveling, I wasn’t prepared for how many parts of myself would change through the experience. I started to see people and places throughout the world as more similar than they were different.
I also learned that happiness looks different everywhere — what brings joy in one country might not be the same in another, but it’s just as real. I started to create a drawing for each city and area I visited internationally, as a way to communicate the feelings I was experiencing.
Each piece has the same general margins and sizing, but the typefaces, colors, and linework of each are unique. This, to me, is the essence of my work that I want other people to feel: the countries are all similar and connected but distinct and special, too.
